What do you want? You may say: security, a relationship, success, healing, better job, a home, a child, money & so many others. Will you get your want? I don’t know. I pray for peoples’ wants and my own. Some want a need to be met and I wish that I could say that faithfulness and prayer will cause God to grant you all of your wants. But, I’m unable to, because I can’t guarantee any of us will live untill the end of today.  When I see quotes or posts that make definitive statements about the certainty of obtaining our wants simply because we ask God, I am very concerned.  This kind of assertion is not scriptural.  It usually is put forth as a faith building effort, but it accomplishes the very opposite for those that do not receive the answer they seek.

“Take delight in the LORD & he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

I like that verse. He’s aware of the wants in my heart & He wants to bless me but there’s a condition; I need to take great pleasure in Him. With that in mind, the verse isn’t as likable. That part isn’t in there because God is egotistical. He’s asking us to align our heart to His and this is a very beautiful thing. That alignment has an effect on our desires andour wants. You think of your wants from the viewpoint of His Love for you and the Good He has in store for you.

What’s happening today? Your heart is wrestling with lining up to His. I know. I’m the same. What are the logistics in order to get there? We’re going to have to spend time with Him in ways that brings us close to Him. That’s a little hard to do without prayer and meditation on His words. Personally, I need to add music in my efforts to connect. For you, it may include nature or other things.

As lovers of God, we base our lives on a Promise. All of the effort to align ourselves with Him will be through the things I mentioned. Yet, I believe we will have to memorize a Scripture about His Promise because it is without comparison. You will spend a lot of life wanting and the Promise has to be compared to the want(s) due to the fact that you may not get what you want. What is the Promise? The greatest of all His Promises: Heaven. I’m not perfectly grounded in what I’m writing. So, I’ve decided I’m going to memorize this verse so that when the wants are unaligned, I can look at the Promise and see that there is no comparison.

“Behold…God Himself will be among them,  He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there will no longer be any death, mourning, crying,or pain. The first things have passed away.” Revelation 21:3-4

Love Always
